Because how you show up matters just as much as the treatment itself.
A professional facial can work wonders for your skin—but your results don’t start on the treatment table. How you care for your skin before your appointment plays a major role in how well it responds during the session. At Onyx Skin Oasis, we want you to get the most from every visit, so here’s how to prep like a pro.
1. Pause Exfoliants and Retinol (3–5 Days Before)
If your routine includes strong actives like retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or scrubs, press pause a few days ahead of your facial. These ingredients can make your skin more sensitive and reactive, which could limit the types of treatments we’re able to safely perform.
➡️ Think of it as giving your skin a reset so we can work with a clean, calm canvas.
2. Avoid Waxing, Chemical Peels, or Injectables Within 48 Hours
Too many treatments too close together can overstimulate or inflame the skin. We recommend spacing out facials from waxing, Botox, dermal fillers, or chemical peels by at least 48–72 hours (or longer, depending on the procedure).
➡️ Facials should complement—not compete with—your other treatments.
3. Arrive with Clean, Makeup-Free Skin
There’s no need to apply foundation, concealer, sunscreen, or heavy moisturizers before your appointment. In fact, arriving with a clean face helps us better assess your skin and allows products to penetrate more effectively during your treatment.
➡️ We’ve got the cleansing covered—just come as you are.
4. Hydrate from the Inside Out
Drinking water and keeping your skin moisturized the day before and day of your appointment helps your skin stay plump, balanced, and ready to absorb professional-grade products. Dehydrated skin can make extractions more difficult and reduce the overall glow you leave with.
➡️ Think of water as your pre-facial primer.
5. Communicate Any Skin Changes or Concerns
Let us know if you’ve started any new medications, recently had a breakout, experienced increased sensitivity, or changed up your skincare routine. These small updates help us customize your facial for what your skin actually needs that day.
➡️ The more we know, the better we can treat you.
